C - The Onyx Serpent Technique

Name: The Onyx Serpent Technique

Technique Power Ranking: C

Description: The Onyx Serpent Technique draws inspiration from the deadly precision, flexibility, and cunning of the onyx serpent. Practitioners of this technique must actively hunt progressively stronger serpent-like and dark-aligned creatures to gain their traits. The technique focuses on agility, stealth, and venomous attacks.

Pathways:

Stage One: To master the first stage, the practitioner must hunt and kill 10 Normal-ranked serpent-like creatures, collecting their fangs and venom sacs to craft a potion. The potion must be consumed under the light of a crescent moon.

Bonus: Gains a slight increase in agility and reflexes by 1.5x and minor venom resistance to all common venoms.

Backlash: The venom infusion temporarily causes sluggish movement until the practitioner adjusts.

Stage Two: The practitioner must track and kill 5 F-ranked serpents and 5 F-ranked dark-attributed creatures, harvesting their venom to craft a potion that must be consumed at midnight in a shadowed location.

Bonus: Gains immunity to all non-magical poisons and venom, and the ability to infuse their mana with E Rank Venom, creating attacks that deal lingering damage. Agility increases by 2x, and reflexes sharpen.

Backlash: Prolonged venom use can cause nausea and dizziness if overexerted.

Stage Three: To progress, the practitioner must hunt and slay 5 E-ranked venomous pythons, known for their deadly venoms. They must craft a piece of armor or jewelry from the scales and wear it while defeating three additional dark-aligned creatures.

Bonus: Gains 15% resistance to physical attacks and slight resistance to dark-aligned attacks. Agility improves by 2x, and the practitioner can now sense vibrations within a 15-meter radius.

Backlash: Increased durability slightly reduces movement speed during extended combat.

Stage Four: The practitioner must locate and defeat 5 D-ranked shadow serpent creatures.

Bonus: Gains the ability to enhance grappling techniques. Agility improves by 2x, and their vibration sense expands to 25 meters. Gains the ability to hide their presence in low-light environments.

Backlash: Overuse of stamina during grappling weakens the practitioner’s arms and legs, reducing overall strength temporarily.

Stage Five: The practitioner must track and defeat a C-ranked onyx cobra, a rare and dangerous creature known for its toxic venom and speed. After the hunt, they must craft a venom-infused potion from the cobra’s body and consume it at dusk.

Bonus: Gains the ability to create venomous strikes that inflict debilitating effects such as slowing or weakening foes. Physical strength increases by 1.5x, and agility by 2x. Gains 50% resistance to venom and poison-based attacks below C Rank.

Backlash: The venom infusion causes occasional muscle spasms or cramps, especially after prolonged use of venomous attacks.

Final Stage: To achieve mastery, the practitioner must locate and defeat a B-ranked Onyx Spirit Serpent, a spectral being of immense power and deadly venom. They must absorb the spirit’s essence through a ritual performed during a total eclipse.

Bonus: Gains the ability to summon a spectral onyx serpent companion capable of delivering soul-level venomous attacks that weaken the target’s mana and stamina. The companion enhances the practitioner’s stealth and agility further. The practitioner can now sense vibrations within a 50-meter radius.

Backlash: Maintaining the connection with the onyx serpent spirit causes intense drain and leaves the practitioner vulnerable to bright light-based attacks.
